Why Espresso Machines Need a Specialist, Not a General Technician
Coffee and espresso machines have a lot going on under the hood — boilers, pumps, pressure systems, control boards, and grinders that all have to work together perfectly. When something goes wrong, guessing your way through a repair usually makes things worse.
Most repair shops won't touch espresso machines — we do.
Boiler failures, pump issues, solenoid valves, group heads, grinder problems — we've seen it all and fixed it all. Breville, DeLonghi, Jura, Gaggia, Saeco, Nespresso and more.
A good coffee machine is worth fixing.
At $300 to $3,000+, replacing it shouldn't be your first move. We'll diagnose it, give you a straight answer on what it'll cost, and get it running again — usually for a fraction of the price of a new one.
Common Jura Repairs
Jura Problems We Fix Every Week
These are the six Jura failures our technicians see most often across Deerfield, Highland Park, and Northbrook. All fixable in one visit.
Jura Espresso Machine Repair Services on the North Shore
Jura builds exclusively super-automatic espresso machines — Swiss-engineered, fully sealed, and more complex than anything else on your countertop. When something fails inside a Jura, general appliance repair shops can't help. The brew group isn't user-removable. The ceramic grinder is calibrated to tolerances most technicians have never worked with. The thermoblock, milk circuit, and control board all talk to each other through a proprietary system. Good Guys is the North Shore's local Jura repair specialist — we carry OEM-spec parts for every current and recent model, and most jobs get done in a single visit across Deerfield, Highland Park, Northbrook, Wilmette, and the surrounding area.
Jura Brew Group Rebuild
The brew group compresses ground coffee and forces pressurized water through it at 9 bars. After thousands of cycles, dried coffee oils coat the gaskets, seals, and guide rails until the mechanism jams or the machine throws a fill system error. Jura's brew group is sealed inside the chassis — no user access. We fully disassemble, clean every contact surface, replace worn O-rings and gaskets, relubricate with food-safe silicone, and reassemble. One visit, done.
Jura Ceramic Grinder Repair
Jura uses flat ceramic disc grinders rated for roughly 10,000 brew cycles. When they wear down, shots go thin, crema disappears, and the grinder sounds wrong — screeching, clicking, or rattling. A stone from a bag of beans can chip a disc instantly. We swap ceramic discs, clean the grinder housing, and recalibrate the adjustment ring to restore consistent particle size.
Jura Milk System Service
Flat cappuccinos, zero foam, or a sputtering milk spout all point to the same root cause: dairy protein residue clogging the narrow silicone tubes, milk pump, or air-intake valve inside Jura's integrated frother. We tear down the full milk circuit, ultrasonically clean or replace the silicone lines, service the pump, and restore the air-intake mechanism. Foam quality comes back immediately.
Jura Thermoblock and Boiler Repair
Jura heats water on demand through a thermoblock — a coiled aluminum element that can fail after years of scale buildup or electrical wear. When it goes, coffee comes out lukewarm or the machine sits on the heating screen indefinitely. We test thermoblock output, check the NTC temperature sensor, inspect the control board relay, and replace whichever component has drifted. Common on older E-series and ENA machines.
Jura Pump Replacement
Every Jura runs a vibration pump — typically Ulka or CEME — to hit 9 bars of extraction pressure. After five to seven years of daily use, pumps weaken and die. The machine runs, the grinder spins, but nothing comes out. Or shots pull thin and watery because pressure has dropped below threshold. We swap pumps with OEM-spec units, bleed the water lines, and verify tank sensor accuracy. Parts on every truck.
Jura Descaling and Annual Maintenance
Jura's automatic descaling program handles the main water path but skips the thermoblock interior, drainage valve, and milk plumbing. In hard-water zones across Lake County and the North Shore, mineral scale accumulates where the home cycle can't reach. We run a full professional descale, flush every internal line, clean the drainage valve, and reset the maintenance counter. Recommended once a year — extends your machine's life by years.

Jura Espresso Machine Repair FAQ
Don't see your question? Call (847) 463-1967. We'll answer it in under a minute.
How much does Jura espresso machine repair cost?
Brew group rebuilds run $250–$450. Ceramic grinder replacement is $200–$350. Pump swaps cost $150–$300. Milk system overhauls $125–$250. Professional descaling $100–$175. We give you the exact number before we start. Diagnostic is free when you go with us for the repair.
Is my Jura worth repairing or should I replace it?
Jura machines are built to last 8–15 years with proper service. A $350 brew group rebuild on a $2,500 E8 is a no-brainer. A $400 thermoblock replacement on a $5,000 Z10? Still worth it. If the repair costs more than half the replacement price, we'll tell you to buy new. No pressure.
What Jura models do you repair?
Every model Jura has sold in the US. That includes the full E series (E4, E6, E8), Z series (Z6, Z8, Z10), ENA series (ENA 4, ENA 8), S8, X8, X10, GIGA 6, GIGA 10, and older Impressa, J-series, and C-series machines. If it says Jura on it, we fix it.
Do you offer same-day Jura repair on the North Shore?
